If you have an existing list of customers, then they can be easily imported into BusinessFlow.
There are two options:
1) using a list of Sage customers exported to a CSV file
2) using a list of customers created in Excel
To begin the import process; first select the "Sage Export" / "Import Customers" option

The "Import Customers" Screen will appear:

If you are importing a Sage CSV file then the CSV file layout is already set and needs no further changes. Simply click the "select file" button and navigate to the Sage CSV file. Once the file is selected the import should begin automatically - a progress bar will be shown at the bottom of the import form.
If you have your own list of customers on an excel file, then select the "Misc Excel File" option. Before importing this file you will need to make a few small adjustments.
| 1. | Add a new blank line in row 1 |
| 2. | Add column titles to the data |
BusinessFlow will recognize the titles entered in row 1 and then import them into the correct places within the BusinessFlow customer database. The columns of data do not need to be in any set order, however care must be taken to ensure the title of each column in row 1 is correct according to the names below. Adjust your excel file as follows:
| 1) | At the top of the excel file add a new row, make sure it's row 1 |
| 2) | Add the column titles to row 1 above the corresponding column data as follows: |
company name column = enter 'companyname' in row 1 (required field)
account Code column (Sage Customer Code) = enter 'account' in row 1 (required field)
address line 1 column = enter 'address1' in row 1 (optional field)
address line 2 column = enter 'address2' in row 1 (optional field)
address line 3 column = enter 'address3' in row 1 (optional field)
address line 4 column = enter 'address4' in row 1 (optional field)
address line 5 column = enter 'address5' in row 1 (optional field)
phone column = enter 'phone' in row 1 (optional field)
fax column = enter 'fax' in row 1 (optional field)
mobile phone column = enter 'mobile' in row 1 (optional field)
email column = enter 'email' in row 1 (optional field)
contact name column = enter 'contactname' in row 1 (optional field)
Notes:
Only enter the text in row 1, not the apostrophes ' '
Do not have any blank rows, else BusinessFlow will interpret this as the end of the file
| 4. | Save the excel file |
| 5. | then click the "select file" in the Import Customer form |
| 6. | Select the modified customer list and the import should complete without error |
